Our Story: From Ice Cream Truck to Community Favorite In 2006, Mitch and Gina Dissinger bought a little red ice cream truck from a local couple who was ready to retire. What began as a fun summer job quickly became a local hit—serving sweet treats and smiles all around New Holland and Lancaster County. Fueled by a passion for great food, friendly service, and their hometown, Mitch and Gina took the next step in 2010, restoring historic Kauffman’s Hardware building and opening the Restaurant. Events, Catering & The Sweetest Additions As Lickity Split grew, so did the number of people looking to celebrate life’s special moments with them. Hosting private events and dinner theatres in their cozy event space quickly became part of the magic. From bridal showers and baby showers to birthday parties and corporate gatherings, guests began to discover that Lickity Split was more than just a great place to eat—it was a place to make memories. Soon, catering followed—offering fresh, made-to-order meals for off-site events—and in 2025, the Ice Cream Cart made its debut, bringing Lickity Split's charm and sweetness directly to weddings, community events, and private parties across Lancaster County. Whether it’s a vintage-themed dinner theatre or a sundae bar at your reception, Lickity Split now serves joy in more ways than ever before. Our Escape Room: History Comes to Life Tucked away in the original 1800s jail cell inside the restaurant, Lickity Split’s escape room offers an experience unlike any other. Inspired by real events and designed with historic accuracy, the escape room tells the story of the Buzzard Gang—a group of Lancaster County criminals whose daring jailbreak made local legend. You’ll encounter original mugshots, authentic letters, and hands-on puzzles that bring the past to life. Whether you're celebrating a birthday, bonding with coworkers, or just looking for something fun and different to do, this 60-minute challenge is unforgettable. Come for the food, stay for the mystery—then tell everyone you escaped from jail after dinner. Escape Room Community, Connection, Food & Fun Rooted in New Holland: Community Is at Our Core At Lickity Split, community isn’t just something we serve—it’s part of who we are. Owners Mitch and Gina Dissinger, both proud Garden Spot High School graduates, have always poured their hearts into New Holland . From showcasing Mitch’s extensive New Holland memorabilia collection throughout the restaurant’s decor, to supporting local events and organizations, Lickity Split is deeply connected to the town it calls home. Sharing a building with the New Holland Historical Society and Museum , the restaurant honors the town’s past every day—and helps shape its present through fun, food, and fellowship. You’ll often spot the Lickity Split Ice Cream Truck popping up at local happenings like the July 4th fireworks, New Holland Summer Arts, the New Holland Fair, every Garden Spot home football game, and many local business events. Mitch and Gina are also founding members of the Taste of New Holland Food Fest, an annual Spring celebration of local flavor and fun supporting the Garden Spot Fire Rescue. In 2025, Lickity Split proudly partnered with the Stan Deen Foundation to celebrate the life and legacy of Stan—a true New Holland legend and difference-maker. The Stan Deen Special was added to the menu and created in his honor. For every one sold, $1 is donated directly to the Foundation to support ongoing community impact. It’s just one more way to give back to the place and people they love most.
