Frequently Asked Questions

About Lickity Split

What’s the story behind Lickity Split?
Lickity Split started as a little red ice cream truck in 2006, run by Mitch and Gina Dissinger. They are both New Holland natives and Garden Spot High School alumni. It quickly became a local favorite, and by 2010, they restored part of New Holland’s historic Kauffman’s Hardware building and opened the full restaurant. We’ve been growing ever since—with great food, cozy vibes, and deep New Holland roots. It’s a true family-run business built on love for good food and great people. Read more of
our story here.

Why is there so much New Holland memorabilia in the restaurant?
Owner Mitch Dissinger is a lifelong New Holland local with a serious passion for hometown history. Much of what you see on the walls is from his personal collection—a nostalgic tribute to the people, places, and stories that make this town special. Mitch is also the Co-Founder of the
New Holland Area Historical Society, which is just next door to Lickity Split. They are open Thursday and Saturday from 10:00am - 2:00pm.

Is it true there’s a real jail cell under the restaurant?

Yes! Our building once housed the town's single cell lock-up jail, and the original 1868 jail cell still exists in our basement. It’s been preserved and even plays a role in our escape room experience. History lovers and puzzle solvers alike are in for a real treat! If you ask during a break in our service, one of our staff can take you down to check it out. It's a great photo op!

What are your hours?
The restaurant is open Monday through Saturday, 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Closed Sundays. Hours are by appointment only for the Escape Room. For daily updates or schedule changes, check our
Facebook Page or call the restaurant at 717-354-4986.

Where are you located?
Our address is
209 E Main Street, New Holland, PA—right in the heart of town, in a beautifully restored 1800s building.

Do you have parking?
Yes! There’s a public parking lot behind the restaurant (off of N Railroad Ave) and plenty of street parking nearby. Overflow parking is available next door at Trinity Lutheran Church (221 E Main Street, New Holland).

What is The Stan Deen Combo?

In early 2025 we launched a new menu item, The Stan Deen Combo, featuring half a Garden Spot Melt, a cup of Chicken Corn Noodle, and a petite scoop of Milky Way ice cream. A portion of each Stan Deen Combo sold ($2!) will be donated to The Stan Deen Foundation. The Stan Deen Foundation exists to empower vulnerable youth through education and the arts. By partnering with local and national foundations, we seek to improve the quality of life for beneficiaries by investing in their education, artistic abilities, and mental health to build resilient, better informed, and more engaged individuals. Lickity Split owners, Mitch & Gina, are proud to be able to support this Foundation in honor of Stan and the personal connection they had with him.

Stan was a Lancaster County institution—beloved by generations of students and adults throughout the area and beyond. Stan’s remarkable life transformed countless individuals. With a seemingly endless supply of energy, enthusiasm, and optimism, all highlighted by his distinctive wit and charm, Stan truly lived each day to its fullest. His zest for life was unmatched, and he shared his joy with every person who crossed his path. Stan was at his best when he was bringing out the best in others. “If there is anything I could really encourage you all to do is have some visions and dreams for what you can become. Because everybody has been given certain abilities, certain talents and aspirations, and I would hope that you would use those to their fullest, wherever you go.” – Stan Deen
